Frats Connecting People
Fraternities have been a part of college experiences since the start of the country we live in today. They have always been controversial to all college students, but have had impressive success in their statistics. With the one stat, that 85% of fortune 500 excecutives having belonged to a fraternity at some point is pretty remarkable.
Networking
Just like most things in life, greek life has its fair share of pros and cons. Starting out with the obvious one, networking. All you do in a fraternity is meet people, which is the best way to make connections for your future. Making fraternities a viable option to opening your horizons for your life after college.
As the debate continues, whether or not fraternities are for you, or not, will always remain a mystery. The best you could do is learn about them, put the pros in the cons versus each other and decide whether you want to take initiative and give it a shot, or if you wanna just remain regular and focus on your classes. As I just mentioned, there are pros and cons, such as the main con being that fraternities take up a lot of time, therefore not being you enough to study and be able to focus on your classes because you will be feeding most of your attention, and time into this fraternity. This does not mean you will fail your classes, it just means that you would have to put in a little extra effort in order to be able to catch up with everything you’re missing because of the fraternity and you’re going to have to figure out how to manage your time even more wisely than you would normally. Although this sounds like a very harmful thing for most people, it could actually be beneficial for your future because you’re gonna develop critical time management skills that might be able to help you in your foreseeable future.
they Are worth the time and money
Another big thing with these fraternities is the price that you have to pay every semester to remain a member. After doing research and seeing how successful people become from these fraternities I believe it’s safe to say that the money is not a big issue because once you graduate, you will know many people in your specific major that have already graduated when you begin your career. What this led me to believe is that you will have multiple opportunities to find jobs in which your boss or supervisor would’ve been in the fraternity with you or in a brotherly fraternity to yours. Fraternities are definitley worth the price to pay! With all the benefits you recieve from them, it is well worth the price. Not only do you get connections, you also get mentors who help you through your college experience. Not to mention, a study group, fraternities tend to study in groups to maintain their GPA's to standard.
Do your own research
On top of the five, you should probably research fraternities. You should also research individual fraternities in making your choice on which one to join. There are a lot of different types of fraternities. Some are medical fraternities, some are business fraternities, some are engineering and so on. Not only that, but they also have different values and morals that they share so understanding what fraternity you are joining, can better or less help you decide whether you even want to join one in the first place. Famous fraternities such as Sigma Chi and SigEp unknown for being business, fraternities and religious fraternities. This is because they mostly accept members that typically went to high schools with religious backgrounds. The only experience I have is through my cousin who is currently in a sorority here at FIU and from what I hear she loves it there and not only that, she studies with her sorority sisters, so that kind of gets rid of the time consumption con because they end up getting their grades up regardless.
Frats at fiu
This is a message to all incoming students at FIU. Before you decide whether or not you want to attempt Greek life here at this university, you should take a look at the link I've embedded and read through FIU’s standard for fraternities and sororities. Granted, I believe that Greek life is a wonderful thing and should be pushed out more, and more people should try it every year. This is because not only does it get people involved in college life, it allows them to have a great four years, but it allows them to build up the necessary connections with important people that they will need in order to succeed after the four years of college.
